2023 Nissan TITAN®

Overview

Confident in its fan base, Nissan has changed little about the 2023 Nissan TITAN, apart from adding wireless Apple CarPlay as a standard feature in the two top trims. The main strength of this full-sized pickup remains its popular and powerful V-8 engine, which is standard even in the base trim. The TITAN is hardly inexpensive, but even the base trim offers a lot of bang for the buck. In addition, Nissan offers a best-in-class warranty: five years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first.

The Perfect Ride for…

The driver who wants a multi-function workhorse that can tow a trailer, haul hay or construction materials, and handle a lot of interior cargo—all while offering a comfortable ride, thanks to the Zero Gravity front seats. With 14 different pressure points, the seats not only support driver and passenger through all the twists and turns in the road but also facilitate unimpeded blood flow, minimizing physical fatigue, even on long trips. With the addition of four-wheel drive, this light-duty workhorse doubles as a weekend warrior, capable of handling the road less traveled. This is particularly true of the Pro-4X trim, equipped with a skid plate, high ground clearance, Bilstein shocks, all-terrain tires, and a locking rear differential. With the crew cab configuration, the 2023 Nissan TITAN is a competent people hauler (up to 5 passengers), whether for the weekday carpool or weekend excursions with the family.

Drive and Handling

The 2023 Nissan TITAN lineup boasts just one engine, a muscular 5.6L V-8 with 400 HP, 413 lb-ft of torque, and a slick 9-speed automatic transmission. For a big truck, the TITAN accelerates up to 60 mph in a decent 7.3 seconds. Fuel economy is, predictably, not so decent: 16 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the open road for rear-wheel drive models. 4WD is available on all trims but is the standard for the Pro-4X. The TITAN can tow a maximum of 9,370 pounds, enough for most trailers, and carries a top payload of about 1,700 pounds. Nissan offers two body configurations: the smaller “king cab,” accessed by half-doors; and the 4-door crew cab, affording even adult passengers a respectable amount of second-row foot space. The crew cab comes only with a 5-foot, 6-inch bed, while the king cab pairs with either this smaller bed or the full, 6-foot, 6-inch bed.

The base trim is the S, equipped with a generous complement of standard features, including Nissan Safety Shield 360. Unlike the competition, Nissan doesn’t scale down the power for its base model, which has the same V-8 as its pricier siblings. Working up the price scale are the SV, which adds alloy wheels and LED taillights; the Pro-4X, with the full off-road package and such standard niceties as leather-wrapped steering wheel and 8-way adjustable driver’s seat; and finally, the Platinum Reserve, with 20-inch wheels, leather seats, heated steering wheel and heated seats in both front and back.

Key Features

Although the competition offers a broad spectrum of safety and driver assistance technology, Nissan has the largest list of standard features in this category, even for the base model. They include a rearview camera, emergency braking, forward collision warning, blind-spot warning, lane-departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high beams, and front and rear parking sensors. Options, some standard in the pricier trims, include adaptive cruise control, a surround-view camera system, and hill-descent control.

The infotainment technology is also generous even for the base trim, which comes with an 8-inch touchscreen, wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, two USB ports, voice recognition, and even satellite radio.

Alternative Options

A full-sized pickup truck isn't practical for many drivers. If you want performance and practicality, consider the Nissan Frontier. Drivers who want to optimize interior space should consider the Nissan Armada. Need to see them all up close? Contact the Hall Nissan Virginia Beach team online today or visit our virtual showroom.
