Anyone in search of a solid family vehicle. As expected of a family cruiser, the 2022 Pathfinder offers eight-passenger seating with its standard second-row bench seat. Available second-row captain’s chairs trade seating capacity for individualized comfort and third-row access. The handsomely rugged exterior design takes its inspiration from Pathfinders of old. Meanwhile, the interior is all about comfort and good looks, with goodies like tri-zone automatic temperature control, heated and ventilated front seats, and heated second-row seats available for the asking. A simple kick underneath the rear bumper lets you open and close the available motion-activated liftgate even when your hands are full.

Drive and Handling

A 3.5-liter V6 engine provides the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder with its standout performance. The direct-injected mill outputs 284 horsepower and 259 pound-feet of torque, providing it with enough grunt to tow as much as 6,000 pounds when properly equipped. The V6 engine works in concert with a 9-speed automatic transmission which replaces the last model year’s continuously variable transmission. The end result is surprisingly good fuel economy with both 2WD and 4WD models achieving up to 23 combined mpg according to recent EPA estimates.

The available Intelligent 4x4 system lets you toggle between seven driving modes with the twist of a knob. Simply choose your desired setting and the Pathfinder’s direct coupling system goes into action to minimize wheel slippage and provide enhanced traction. The Idle Start/Stop feature cuts the engine at stoplights to save fuel, while the Auto-Hold and Hill Start Assist features prevent unwanted rollback on steep grades.

Everywhere you look, the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder gives you a convenient cubby to stash your stuff. Lower dash storage bins offer a convenient place for brochures, maps, and smartphones. Front and rear door pockets also feature built-in cup and bottle holders. There’s also space underneath the front center console for a small bag. Second-row passengers also get their own center console storage, which can also be removed for additional space. Even the cargo area has an under-floor storage compartment that keeps your valuables out of sight.

EZ FLEX® 2nd-Row Seating System

This impressive feature makes it easier to get to the Pathfinder’s third row, even with a child seat in place. Nissan’s Latch and Glide® technology lets you slide and tilt the second-row seats forward with a couple of simple motions, eliminating the need for clambering over the rear seats or uninstalling your child seat. Best of all, this feature works on both sides of the vehicle.
